About Vishal Bhagat, MD
Dr. Bhagat completed his medical education at Gujarat University, India in 2000. His first Internal Medicine residency was completed at Gujarat University also. Another residency in Internal Medicine was completed at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo in 2005 during which he served an additional year as Chief Resident in Medicine. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Liver Diseases at the University of Miami in 2007 before returning to SUNY Buffalo for his Fellowship in Gastroenterology which was completed in 2010.
Dr. Bhagat is Board-certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He joined Gastroenterology Consultants of Southwest Virginia in October 2010. Dr. Bhagat serves as the Director of Clinical Research and Investigator for clinical trials in Fatty Liver Disease. His other interests include Screening Colonoscopy, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
