Dr. Karacostas is a psychiatrist who provides psychiatric evaluations for adults, adolescents and children as well as treatment utilizing psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy and psychopharmacology. His areas of interest include ADHD, depression, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, and trauma. Dr. Karacostas holds an M.D. from the Eastern Virginia Medical School and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the George Washington University. He completed a psychiatric residency at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Karacostas is board certified in Psychiatry as well as Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has had psychoanalytic training through the Topeka Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute. For more than 8 years he provided psychiatric consultations to elementary and middle schools and directed the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison service for patients hospitalized on medical units at Cincinnati Children's Hospital (CCHMC). Since 2005 he has been involved in the CCHMC pediatric ADHD collaborative aimed at educating and empowering community pediatricians on the treatment of ADHD and co-morbid disorders.
