Dr. Melki founded the Boston Eye Group in 2000 and has pursued an academically-oriented practice since. He joined the Cornea service at MEEI in 2007 as a part-time faculty. Dr. Melki is the Medical Director for Ophthalmology at the UK specialist hospitals where he has established and managed quality controls for about 20,000 cataract procedures since 2005.
Samir Melki MD PhD is currently an associate professor of ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, an MD PhD from Vanderbilt University and an Ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University. He recently obtained a Physician CEO certification from the Kellog School of Business Administration.

Dr. Melki’s career is highlighted by numerous achievements. He has published 4 textbooks as well as 57 articles in respected peer reviewed scientific journals. Dr Melki regularly teaches at international scientific meetings where he is often invited to speak. He has received an achievement award from both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Melki was the first surgeon to place an implantable contact lens in Boston and was the first person to ever implant a device to wirelessly measure intraocular pressure in a patient with glaucoma.
Dr. Melki is the Medical Director of Boston Vision growing it to 8 locations with a staff of 23 doctors and more than 150 employees. He is also the founder of Myteem, a back-office support solution for healthcare practices. He is known for his expertise in cataract, corneal and laser eye surgery. He is closely involved in the fellowship program in Cornea and Refractive surgery at Mass and Ear and Boston Vision.
