About Samar Gupta, MD
Dr. Gupta is a senior faculty at the University of Michigan Medical School. He is a co-investigator in an NIH-funded trial studying Psoriatic Arthritis. His past academic appointments include Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and faculty at Boston University. He was a consultant at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, and an internationally recognized Center for Orthopedic and Arthritis Diseases. He is the current Chief of Rheumatology Clinical Services and Training in the Ann Arbor VA Healthcare system. He received his Rheumatology training from the University of Michigan. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, member of the Veterans Affairs Rheumatology Consortium, GRAPPA, and National Psoriasis Foundation. He has been a leader in developing standards of care and criteria including disability ratings in the VA, the 2013 DXA guidelines for International Society of Clinical Densitometry [ISCD], Performance Pay Measures, and Lyme Disease. Dr. Gupta was a member of the team that first described Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis and Scleroderma-like skin disorders. He has been a site investigator for controlled therapeutic studies of rheumatoid arthritis, Gout, dermatomyositis, and psoriatic arthritis.
