Frequently Asked Questions

Every doctor is vetted and credentialed before joining UBERDOC. Doctors must be board certified and have an active medical license in the state they are providing services. Exceptions are made for Psychologists, Dentists and Optometrists as these specialties do not require board certifications.

Doctors choose their appointment fee based on specialty and geography. The average cost is $250. You pay $50 when your appointment is confirmed, and the remaining after the completion of the visit.

Included in your UBERDOC appointment is an initial consultation. Any subsequent care or treatment can be through insurance.

If you choose a doctor who is a Medicare provider, you may need to only pay $50 for you UBERDOC appointment. Please discuss with your doctor directly to see if you are eligible.

UBERDOC works outside insurance. Your UBERDOC appointment can be paid for with your HSA, FSA or major credit card. If the doctor is in your insurance network, any subsequent consults, lab tests, procedures and follow-up appointments can be paid for by insurance.

About Robert Lowenstein, MD
Dr. Robert A. Lowenstein, MD is a Board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who founded and has served as Medical Director of Community Psychiatric Center’s wraparound BHRS treatment program and the state licensed Outpatient Mental Health Clinic program.

In that role, he supervises the work of the many clinical staff employed by CPC in the delivery of quality mental health treatment services to clients enrolled in CPC programs.

Dr. Lowenstein previously directed numerous psychiatric programs for children, adolescents, and adults in the Pittsburgh area, including the UPMC Beaver Medical Center Eating Disorders program, the Mercy Hospital Psychiatric Institute Adult and Adolescent inpatient psychiatric hospital units, the Monongahela Valley Hospital adult and adolescent psychiatric hospital unit and drug/alcohol detoxification program, and the Monsour Medical Center child and adolescent inpatient hospital program and the Monsour Hospital Residential Treatment Facility and Partial Hospital program.

Dr. Lowenstein is a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and is a Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society.

He graduated from Columbia College in New York City, and the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He was trained in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He received training in psychoanalysis at the New York Medical College. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Craig Academy, Watson Institute, and the Autism Center of Pittsburgh.

A nationally recognized expert in the field of child neglect and abuse, Dr. Lowenstein was appointed by Mayor Ed Koch to serve for successive terms on the City of New York, Mayor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect from 1978 to 1986. Dr. Lowenstein has participated as Principal Investigator in a number of medication trial studies including the use of antidepressants and psychotropic medications in children.

He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, childhood mood disorders, and substance abuse disorders. Dr. Lowenstein is certified in the treatment of opioid addictions with Suboxone.

Dr. Lowenstein has practiced psychiatry for the past 50 years. He provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management for children enrolled in the CPC program. He is a Preferred Prescriber for the Community Care Behavioral Health Organization, and is contracted with the Westmoreland County Juvenile Probation Department and the Westmoreland county Children’s Bureau to provide court ordered psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents.
