Admired throughout the field for his diverse clinical expertise, Dr. Hus also subspecializes in chest wall reconstruction and surgical stabilization of rib fractures. This is a new and emerging surgical approach which gives patients who suffered traumatic thoracic injuries a chance at a shorter post surgical recovery time and a better overall quality of life.
Dr. Hus is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Medical Association, Florida Committee on Trauma, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, a development committee member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and an active educational committee member for the Chest Wall Injury Society.
Dr. Hus has an enduring commitment to lifelong education. He graduated from the University of Miami with a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics and then earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He then completed his general surgery residency at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL and his fellowship training in trauma surgery and critical care at Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center in Miami. Florida.
Dr. Hus has authored and co authored many well received papers published in prestigious medical journals and continues to present extensively to other physicians on new techniques in chest wall reconstruction, surgical management of traumatic wounds and many other topics. He regularly attends national conferences and symposiums focusing on emerging technologies . With appointments at both Delray Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center, Dr.Hus ensures the delivery of state of the art care to all of his patients. Currently, he is an assistant affiliate professor of surgery at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. He contributes to the teaching of medical students and residents as they work through the program.
Dr. Hus is also personally involved in giving back to the community and is active in both local and international charities such as the American Cancer Society, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the American Friends of Magen David Adom . In his free time, he enjoys water sports, reading, and traveling with his wife and two sons.
