Raised in Orange County, Dr. Pathak earned his Bachelor of Arts in molecular and cell biology at the University of California at Berkeley where he graduated with honors. He was able to continue his academic excellence at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago. He then completed his medical internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Pathak honed his surgical skills at the Cook County Hospital of Chicago where he served as chief resident. Wanting to expand his knowledge of corneal diseases and refractive surgery, Dr. Pathak completed a fellowship at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Pathak specializes in diseases of the cornea. He has undergone extensive training in procedures such as corneal transplantation, DSAEK, and the treatment of dry eyes. He has received certification for the use of Intacs segments in the treatment of keratoconus. He is trained in the newest laser vision correction techniques, including “bladeless” LASIK. He has presented his research at international ophthalmology conferences such as the World Cornea Congress. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Along with cooking and traveling, Dr. Pathak enjoys spending time with his two daughters and his wife.
After spending 5 years in a group practice serving the Long Beach area, Dr. Pathak decided to start his own practice. Lucent Vision is the culmination of his dream to provide an eye care experience where patients are treated like family members. Even though he has access to the best technology in his new office and at all of his affiliated surgery centers, Dr. Pathak understands that compassion is his greatest asset as a physician.
