Born in New York and raised in Ohio, Dr. Antiporda is thrilled to call Florida his home. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. in Biology and then went on to medical school at THE Ohio State University. He stayed at OSU for his intern year before moving to Florida to complete his residency in general surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. It is there that he developed a passion for gastrointestinal surgery, and in particular, taking care of patients with foregut disorders. He engaged in productive clinical research leading to numerous presentations at national surgical conferences and primary authorship of papers centered on outcomes of foregut surgery, including paraesophageal hernia repair, magnetic sphincter augmentation for GERD, and complex revisional fundoplication surgery. In Jacksonville, Dr. Antiporda was extremely fortunate to meet the love of his life, Rachel, while working as a junior resident on overnight call. They married during his chief year. After completing his general surgical training, Dr. Antiporda moved to Portland, OR where he had the rarified opportunity as a clinical fellow to spend a year honing his operative and diagnostic skills under the watchful eyes of some of the world’s premier thought leaders in foregut surgery. Dr. Antiporda now returns to Florida to share his wealth of knowledge and experience as a fellowship-trained and board-certified surgeon who puts the needs of his patients first. When he isn’t taking care of patients, Dr. Antiporda enjoys exploring the SWFL culinary scene with his wife, learning to scuba dive, and reading biographies and accounts of American history.
