About James Curry, MD
Born and raised in nearby southern California Doctor Curry attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where he received his undergraduate degree. During his time there he developed an interest in medicine after volunteering at a local clinic, traveling with Aeromedicos to provide medical care and working at a local emergency room. He moved to Detroit, Michigan to attend Wayne State University School of Medicine. There he participated in the inauguration of “Code Blue” student group and was a member of the Aesculapian Society. After medical school, he completed residency in surgery at the University of Nevada School of Medicine where he also participated in trauma and wound healing research. He joined Desert West Surgery in 2002. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is a member of the Americas Hernia Society. He has an interest in robotic surgery, colorectal and hernia surgery, treatment of vein disease, and nutrition.
