Frequently Asked Questions

Every doctor is vetted and credentialed before joining UBERDOC. Doctors must be board certified and have an active medical license in the state they are providing services. Exceptions are made for Psychologists, Dentists and Optometrists as these specialties do not require board certifications.

Doctors choose their appointment fee based on specialty and geography. The average cost is $250. You pay $50 when your appointment is confirmed, and the remaining after the completion of the visit.

Included in your UBERDOC appointment is an initial consultation. Any subsequent care or treatment can be through insurance.

If you choose a doctor who is a Medicare provider, you may need to only pay $50 for you UBERDOC appointment. Please discuss with your doctor directly to see if you are eligible.

UBERDOC works outside insurance. Your UBERDOC appointment can be paid for with your HSA, FSA or major credit card. If the doctor is in your insurance network, any subsequent consults, lab tests, procedures and follow-up appointments can be paid for by insurance.

About Howard Friedman, DPM
Dr. Howard E. Friedman is a podiatrist and board-certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery through 2028. He became a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in 2000.

Dr. Friedman is on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY and a member of the hospital’s Wound and Hyperbaric Institute. The office serves patients around the Rockland County region including Airmont, Nanuet, Nyack, Monsey, New City, Spring Valley, Suffern, Sloatsburg, Tuxedo and Bergen County including Mahwah, NJ. The office also has patients who travel from Teaneck and Passaic, NJ as well as from Westchester, NY.

He graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1994 and completed his residency training in foot surgery in 1996, and served as chief resident. He was an instructor and assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine from 1996-2000.

Dr. Friedman has been treating patients in his office in Suffern, NY full-time since June 2000. He treats children and adults focusing on non-surgical care. The youngest patient so far was 6 weeks old and the oldest patients are over 100 years old.

Dr. Friedman received an acknowledgement in the book The Ultimate Hiker’s Gear Guide published by National Geographic in March 2012 for his pre-publication review of the chapter on footwear. Dr. Friedman was quoted in Prevention.com in March 2018. He has also written frequently for publications on the topics of foot care, orthotics and shoe and boot selection for hikers and backpackers. His articles have appeared in the Trail Walker, the official publication of the NY-NJ Trail Conference, www.nynjtc.org – as well as Backpackinglight.com. Dr. Friedman has published peer-reviewed articles on the topic of local anesthesia in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He also authored an article on the topic of toe surgery for Podiatry Management magazine and lectured on the topics of bunion and hammertoe surgery and wound care.

He enjoys running, has completed his fifth half marathon in September 2019 and ran several 5-K trail races. He has hiked extensively in northern New Jersey, Harriman State Park and the Catskills. Dr. Friedman served as a volunteer trail maintainer for the NY/NJ Trail Conference for close to a decade and he founded and was the advisor for the Outdoors Club at the Torah Academy of Bergen County boys high school, where he was also a member of the board of directors for five years.
