About Harold Pierre, MD
Dr. Harold Pierre’s journey to medicine has been anything but direct. Life has taken him from Brooklyn to Haiti and from electrical engineering to a stint in the CIA—yes, the Central Intelligence Agency, serving in 14 countries in three years. But, it was a course in biology, taught at a community college, that ultimately kindled Harold’s interest in medicine.
With experiences so diverse, it’s no surprise that Harold would ultimately find his way into combining the myriad of seemingly disconnected disciplines of anesthesiology, addiction medicine, testosterone replacement therapy and pain management. His 20 years experience in addiction medicine is on display through the kindness and passion he cares for his patients.
Dr. Pierre earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from The University of Maryland at College Park, an MD from the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston before completing his Anesthesiology Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was named 2003’s Resident Teacher of the Year.
Since arriving here in Tulsa, Dr. Pierre has served as Staff Anesthesiologist at Tulsa Hillcrest Medical Center, was Medical Director of Hospice Services at Interim Healthcare Hospice, is currently Co-Director of Anesthesiology at Hillcrest South Hospital, and hosts a podcast called unHOOKED where he helps an international audience overcome addiction.
Not bad for a Brooklyn-born boy who arrived back in America at age 6 only speaking French and Creole. Dr. Pierre is married to his high school sweetheart. They have three daughters, 22, 18 and 11. And, when he’s not working out or indulging his knack for international cooking, Dr. Pierre spends time teaching his 11 year old the piano—something he began at age 4.
