Dr. Stevens is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in corneal transplants and complex surgeries of the eye, maintaining his techniques and skills at the cutting edge of eye care.
After completing his Chief Residency year at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, he spent 2 years as a senior staff fellow performing research in ocular immunology at the National Eye Institute (NIH). This was followed by a Fellowship in corneal surgery and disease at Georgetown University.
Dr. Stevens settled in Richmond in 1987, and served 13 years as Chief of Ophthalmology at the McGuire VA Medical Center, and 8 years at the Medical College of Virginia as full-time faculty. During this time as the Director of Residency training, he mentored residents and corneal fellows in the basic and advanced techniques of ocular surgery
