Dr. Oliva received his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1987 and returned to Miami to specialize in Foot Surgery. In 1989, Dr. Oliva joined the Staff of Mercy Hospital and currently holds a rank of Senior Attending in the Division of Podiatry. During his tenure as Chief of Podiatric Surgery from 1998-2004, Dr. Oliva was an integral part of various surgical training programs for Podiatry Residents pursuing their studies in podiatric medicine and foot surgery. As part of his mission statement, Dr. Oliva has donated hundreds of hours to the "REACH OUT MIAMI" Foundation and the Saint John Bosco Clinic.

During his 25+ years in private practice, Dr. Oliva has performed numerous procedures involving all phases of foot surgery. Dr. Oliva is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. As a Clinical Adjunct Faculty of the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, students and surgical residents rotate regularly through his office and surgical centers.

A celebrated provider of podiatric medicine, Dr. Oliva has been active in the development of the new outpatient surgery department at Mercy Hospital, named Bayside Surgical Center. Upon opening its doors in 2004, it has become one of Dr. Oliva's select surgical settings for outpatient surgery. Dr. Oliva has partnered with foot surgeons from Madrid (Spain) who have spent time observing surgeries and attending various lectures on the newest advances in foot surgery. He contributed to Podologia Quirugica, a new book demonstrating various surgical procedures in podiatric medicine. Published in Spain and compiled by Dr. Oscar Izquierdo, Podologia Quirugica is a small anthology of the techniques and methods of some of the most cutting-edge surgical procedures available to surgeons today.

Currently, Dr. Oliva's office stands out as one of the most technologically advanced podiatric centers in Miami. Adopting technologies in digital x-ray development and computerized orthotic fabrication, he has been able to significantly reduce his environmental footprint while expediting such services to patients. Additionally, his state-of-the-art electronic medical record system allows his office to run virtually paper-less. He has continued to provide the most cutting edge procedures in the newest and most innovative ways possible, making him a leading contemporary healthcare provider.
