After enrolling in medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, he chose to become a plastic surgeon because it would allow him to be creative and use his imagination and artistic abilities. Today, he takes great pride in having selected a rewarding career path that has given him the opportunity to improve the quality of life for hundreds of patients.
Dr. Gerth has received extensive, hands-on training in three specialties recognized by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery), facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and plastic surgery. Few, if any, surgeons practicing in South Florida today possess this comprehensive training background. This uniquely qualifies Dr. Gerth to perform superior aesthetic and reconstructive procedures for the face, which can be the most challenging part of the body to work on. Furthermore, the attention to detail and delicate tissue handling he applies to his facial work has enhanced his outcomes for breast and body aesthetic procedures as well.
