About
Dr. Patnaik was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Louisiana. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She continued at the University of Virginia for medical school followed by an internship at Fairfax Hospital/Georgetown University. Dr. Patnaik received her residency training in ophthalmology at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. She received further training in the subspecialty of corneal, cataract, refractive surgery, and external ocular disease during her fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Patnaik’s practice encompasses all aspects of ophthalmology, with special emphasis on corneal and external ocular diseases such as dry eye. She performs corneal transplants, DSAEK, cataract surgery, pterygium excision, LASIK and other refractive and anterior segment surgery. In addition to her practice, Dr. Patnaik volunteers as a clinical and surgical instructor to Georgetown University ophthalmology residents. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and three children.
